UPDATE - Wednesday, August 28, 2024
Dear TechX Robotics Competition Team,
We have been working hard behind the scenes, and would like to share these exciting announcements!
COMPETITION CLASSES
Coach Jared and I have had an amazing time with your children and their new teammates! Everyone has been engaged, and we have begun with building, driving, and learning this year’s game, Rapid Relay! We will be adding photos of the Competition Classes in this “TechX Robotics Competition Classes” Album.
TEAM MEMBER ASSIGNMENTS
We will do our best to assign and announce which Team your child will be assigned to by the end of next week. There are potential additions that we are awaiting. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned!
TEAM ID’s
At this time, we have 3 registered teams for the VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC) Season! Their Team ID’s are:
277T
277X
277R
Special Thanks to Coach Jared who came up with the TXR (TechX Robotics) combination! Teams 277T and 277X will be assigned to the Elementary School division, while Team 277R is in the Middle School Division. Your child will be assigned to one of these teams, and it is possible for an elementary school student to be assigned to the Middle School team.
HOW ARE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (ES) STUDENTS DISTINGUISHED FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL (MS) STUDENTS IN THE VIQRC?
In case you are curious, here is how the Official 2024-25 VIQRC rules determine if a student is an ES or MS student:
Student – Anyone born after May 1, 2009 (i.e., who will be 15 or younger at VEX Worlds 2025). Eligibility may also be granted based on a disability that has delayed education by at least one year. Students are the individuals who design, build, repair, and program the Robot with minimal Adult assistance.
Elementary School Student – Any Student born after May 1, 2012 (i.e., who will be 12 or younger at VEX Worlds 2025). Elementary School Students may “play up” and compete as Middle School Students.
Middle School Student – Any eligible Student that is not an Elementary School Student.
TOURNAMENTS!
TechX Robotics is on the map! Many tournaments were released this past Monday, and TechX Robotics is signed up for 4 tournaments so far! This means that we will look for additional Tournaments as they become available for us as we have met our “Early Bird” limits. It is important to note that two Tournaments are nearby, while one is over 1 hour away in Arcadia, and the other is in Oklahoma.
We signed up for the Tournament in Arcadia because it has much less spots (24) than most tournaments (40 or more). This smaller number greatly increases our chances to win a State Qualifying Award.
The Tournament in Oklahoma is known as a Signature Event. This means that Team who win certain Awards at the Signature Event could bypass the State Championship and directly earn a spot at the World Championship! Team Members who participate in this event will miss school from Thursday, November 7 through Saturday, November 9.
At least one Parent or Guardian is required to be with a Team Member at every single Tournament. In order to gather a preliminary idea of which Tournaments your family would be able to attend, please complete the Survey below:
SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE
Please review our September Schedule below. You will notice that we are offering Extra Practice Dates during Labor Day (September 2), and most Saturday’s (September 7, 14, and 28). In order for us to offer these Extra Practice Dates, please signup your child in this SIGNUP SPREADSHEET. All you need to do is click on the boxes of the 1-hour Time Slots under your child’s name to indicate the exact times they plan to attend. PLEASE NOTE: we require a MINIMUM of 3 Students to be signed up for a single Time Slot to for it to become available for Team Members to attend.
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS FOR NOW
We are very excited for the start of Season 1 for TechX Robotics! It’s going to be a fantastic year!
